Room had a GREAT view of Lake Como and nice balcony. Excellent english-speaking staff. Carpet a bit worn, Hotel Du Lac better value, excellent breakfast, HUGE room and nice sized bathroom. Great location.
It was 40 euros more per night than Hotel Du Lac and less modern. Carpet a bit worn. Not a lot of table surfaces for alarm clock and toiletries.
Great location in an absolutely charming town. The breakfast was perfect.
No international current support such as transformers or shaver plugs. Hair dryer was antique and ineffective. Bathroom was minuscule. Shower was 30 x 30. This hotel needs a freshening. Price too high for the condition of the rooms.
Wonderful views, great breakfast on balcony looking over Lake Como. Friendly helpful staff, easy location, short walk to ferry, 15mins walk to train, quiet, plenty of restaurants nearby etc. Great place to unwind.
Lovely hotel view, good food.
The central location, the pool and small garden was very well maintained. The food in the restaurant was good and the view from the restaurant window excellent
Breakfast was good, yet served in a room away from the spectacular lake view which was a bit puzzling since that view is what they promote on their website as a selling feature.
Bed was very hard and pillows thin and hard - I was glad we were only booked for 1 night on it. Given the star rating of the hotel, the bathroom toiletries & paper supplies were very cheap compared to other similarly rated hotels we stayed in this same trip.
It has a good location and must have been a lovely hotel in its day.
The hotel is old and dated. It was expensive and yet the carpets need to be replaced, the hairdrier was brocken, bed linen was a bit shabby.
A great position, get a lake facing view
Maria, on the front desk. She was amazinglly helpful to us.
Noise from adjoining rooms- walls could be better sound proofed
Liked the historical nature and the restoration of the old.
Beds are too hard. Typical of Italy though.
Location is nice...We liked the view of the lake and had wine on the veranda overlooking the lake at sunset. Was nice. The town of Varenna is very cute but it is small and a good place for relaxing.
The wait staff always seemed annoyed with us.
Varenna is probably the best location on Lake Como
A bit impersonal and pricy
Beautifl grounds and hotel. Lovely location.
The room refidgerator was not working properly and the a/c was not working at all. Uncomfortable because of the temperature in the room.
Very comfortable room, very central to the village and good for exploring Lake Como area.
